If you are an OWD certified diver, or a novice diver who has just qualified as an OWD, regardless of your dive system, you may be confused as to how to proceed with your in-depth dive learning. Most of the students will know that after the Open Water Diver course (OW course), they can choose the Advanced Diver AOW (In SSI's education system, we divide the courses into more detailed courses, in fact, in order to let the students can learn step by step, in SSI, we provide the AA course - Advanced Adventure Diver course), before you browse this page, you can refer to this article, to understand SSI Advanced Diving Education。
SSI AA and AOWD Options
Once you've earned your Open Water Diver (OW) certification, there are several ways to extend your dive learning journey!
Keep Diving(FUNDIVE), the gradual accumulation of diving experience, so that the fundamentals and techniques learned as an Open Water Diver (OW) become muscle memory.
Choose to take one of SSI's advanced education courses, such as Advanced Adventure Diver (AA), or participate in one of the various SSI specialty dive courses offered or go straight to the AOWD Advanced Open Water Dive Package (which you can pick and choose based on your personal interests).
Boat Diving
The ocean is full of dive sites, but many of them are not accessible from the coast. This course teaches you the skills and knowledge you need to dive safely from a boat and get the most out of your diving opportunities. Upon completion, you will be certified as an SSI Boat Diver Specialist.
Certification: Completion of the concentration credit and subject test.
Course Duration:5~10 hours
Deep Diving
Many exciting dives are located in deeper waters. Without proper training, these dives can be risky for you. The SSI Deep Dive Specialist will provide you with the ability to safely and comfortably plan and conduct dives to depths greater than 18 meters, which is a prerequisite for some advanced training. Upon completion, you will be certified as an SSI Deep Dive Specialist.
Certification: Completion of the concentration credit and subject test.
Course Duration:10~15 hours
Underwater Navigation
This course provides the skills and knowledge needed to navigate safely and comfortably underwater during a dive. You will learn how to use a compass and natural navigation techniques, estimating distances, basic navigation patterns, and how to get to and from designated points to add confidence and safety to your dive. Upon completion of this course, you will be certified as an SSI Water Navigation Specialist.
Certification: Completion of the concentration credit and subject test.

Night Diving and Low Visibility Diving
This course provides the skills and knowledge needed to dive safely and comfortably at night or in low visibility conditions. The ocean's creatures only come out at night, so your dive doesn't have to end when the sun down. You'll learn how to get in and out of the water, use specialized equipment, and how to communicate with your dive buddy and perform dives at night or in low visibility. You will be certified as an SSI Night Diver and Low Visibility Specialist.

Waves, Tides and Currents
As you know that water movement can have a huge impact on your diving experience, this course provides you with the skills and knowledge you need to dive from the shore, in tidal currents and in different types of waves, and has been designed to provide you with the ability to perform safer dives. Upon completion of this course, students will receive the SSI Wave, Tide and Current Specialty Certification.

Wreck Diving
Some of the best places to dive in the ocean are artificial reefs, or sunken wrecks. course provides the skills and knowledge you need to safely scuba dive around these treasures. Upon completion, you will receive your SSI Wreck Diver Specialty certification.

Perfect buoyancy
You want to increase buoyancy control? Minimize your respiratory gas consumption? Or move easily above the sea floor? The SSI Perfect Buoyancy course teaches you how to maximize your diving experience, improve your comfort in the water, and develop the skills and knowledge you need to maximize the potential of your equipment. Upon completion, you will be certified as an SSI Perfect Buoyancy Specialist.
Certification: Completion of the concentration credit and subject test.

Underwater Photography and Video
The SSI Photos and Video program teaches you the skills need to dive with an underwater camera, Providing the knowledge and experience needed to properly use, maintain and store your equipment.You will be certified as an SSI Underwater Photography and Video Specialist.

Diving Knowledge Specialist
Computer Watch Diving
Once you have obtained your OWD license, do you already dive with your dive computer watch? If you want to know more about how to use your dive computer watch and get your specialty certification.The SSI Computer Watch Diving Specialist provides in-depth and detailed information on the safe use of dive computer watches.Upon completion, you will be certified as a SSI Diver's Watch Specialist.
Certification: Completion of the concentration credit and subject test.

ENRICHED AIR NITROX
The SSI Nitrox Diving course will teach you how to safely plan and dive with nitrox mixtures EAN up to 40% oxygen. This is a course you will definitely need for your diving career. Compared to normal air diving, Enriched Air can increase your no-decompression limit, increase your safety, and reduce the amount of surface rest time required. You can use different oxygen levels for different dive purposes, so that you can add more dive styles to your dive. Upon completion, you will be SSI Enriched Oxygen 32% certified.

Equipment Maintenance
The SSI Equipment Fundamentals Maintenance Course will show you how to select, maintain and store your Total Diving System. This ensures performance and extends the life of your equipment. Upon completion, you will be certified as an SSI Equipment Fundamentals Maintenance Specialist.

Altitude Diving

The AOWD program is a choice of four independent specialties in diving that interest you (not including Stress and Rescue).
- Choose any four specialty courses of study, except Stress and Rescue Course and Search and Recovery.
- If you are qualified as an Advanced Diver, you may receive one credit for your specialization.
- Easily complete the course and get 6 certificates (including 2 bonus cards) after completing the course and reaching the Diving Experience Level.
- Each concentration requires two credits and two ocean internships each.
- As long as you are qualified as an Open Water Diver, you can sign up.
- The visa requires the completion of four open water dives and final exam.
- Utilizing two days off per week to complete the course easily.You will be take it!
- SSI Open Water Diver Certification (or other organization's qualifying certification)
- You are at least 10 years old
- You have read Medical Statement. You can answer "No" to each question
- SSI Digital teaching materials and visa (digital APP)
- Diving equipment is not included in this course
- Choose from Open Water Specialty or Dive Knowledge Specialty or Pool/Calm Water Specialty.
- We recommend that the mandatory independent dive specialties are Deep Diving, Underwater Navigation, Nitrox (EAN40), Night Diving or other specialties of interest.
- There are 5-7 open water ocean practices in the AOWD package.
- Boat dive is not included (at your own expense - at trainee rate)
- Diving equipment for personal use is not included (rental service is provided by the center)
Schedule
- The full course will take 3 days to complete
- The first day consists of an independent specialty review and 2-3 dives in open water marine practice (depending on the specialty chosen). Shore or boat dives may be conducted.
- The second day consists of an independent specialty refresher and two dives in open water marine practice (adjusted to the chosen specialty), which can be conducted as either shore dives or boat dives.
- On the third day, two dives will be conducted for Open Water Marine Practicum Review (adjusted according to the chosen specialties), which can be conducted as shore dives or boat dives.
Advanced Open Water Diver
General Standards for Specialized Programs
Specialty courses may be combined as long as all knowledge development for the applicable course, pool/calm water and open water training requirements have been completed.
If combining the Specialty course with the Open Water Diver course, the student must be certified as an Open Water Diver prior to the issuance of any SSI Specialty certification.
Safe diving practices must be adhered to at all times and the SSI training standards for each specialty program must be met when combining specialty programs.
If two (2) specialty courses are combined, a minimum of three (3) open water training dives will be required.
If combined with three (3) specialty courses, a minimum of four (4) open water training dives will be required.
If the four (4) specialty courses are combined, a minimum of five (5) open water training dives will be required.
Notes:
- The SSI Advanced Open Water Diver course includes a minimum of 5 training dives.
- You can complete the course in as little as 2 days. If you decide to do the course in 3 days, that's not a problem at all, just let yourself do 1-2 more dives after the course. You will love this AOWD Diving Package!
- This course does not include all necessary diving equipment, if you bring your own equipment, no refund for the difference in price.

Diving Specialist Specialty Package
- All courses take 1-2 days to complete
- The first day consists of an independent specialty review and 1-2 dives in open water marine practice (depending on the specialty chosen). Shore or boat dives may be conducted.
- The second day is an independent specialty refresher and 1-2 dives in open water marine practice (depending on the specialty chosen), either shore diving or boat diving.

Dive Center Comfort Stay
- Double bed for a single person.
- Comfortable and clean resting environment for divers to get enough rest.
- Disposable toiletries are not available at the Dive Center.
- Air conditioner, hair dryer, towels, drinking water, snacks and tea bags are available.
