OPEN WATER INSTRUCTOR
By qualifying as an Assistant Instructor (AI) and undergoing and passing the INSTRUCTOR TRAINING COURSE and INSTRUCTOR EVALUATION (IE test), you become an official SSI Open Water Instructor (OWI).
Open Water Diving Instructors can teach and certify various diving courses, including Scuba Diver, Junior Open Water Diver, Open Water Diver, Advanced Adventure Diver, Scuba Skills Refresher, Experiential Diving, Nitrox Diving, and Pressure and Rescue Diving.

ADVANCED OPEN WATER INSTRUCTOR
Prerequisites for participation in this course are as follows.
- Professional grade, high quality, all-round diving system.
- Have a Scuba Diving Physical Exam form signed by a qualified physician within one year
- Certified Open Water Diving Instructor with active status
- Qualified to conduct a minimum of four (4) specialty courses including Diver Stress and Rescue
- At least 15 Specialty or Advanced Adventure Diver certifications have been awarded.
After meeting the above criteria, you will be automatically promoted by the ODIN system to become an Advanced Open Water Instructor (AOWI), and you will be able to teach, supervise, and issue certificates for the courses. (Advanced Open Water Diver, Junior Advanced Open Water Diver, Snorkeling Instructor Courses)

SPECIALITY INSTRUCTOR
After obtaining the Open Water Instructor (OWI) designation, you can also move on to become a Specialized Instructor/Training Specialist.
There are three ways you can become certified to teach the SSI Specialty Program.
- Professional Coaching Seminar
- Collaborative Teaching
- Verification/Direct Application
After passing the course, you will be qualified to teach the following specialty courses: High Altitude Diving, Basic Equipment Maintenance, Dive Science, Underwater Photography and Video, Perfect Buoyancy, Boat Diving, Underwater Navigation, Wave Tides and Currents; Specialty Courses - Enriched Oxygen Diving, Night Diving and Low Visibility Diving, Pressure and Rescue, Search and Retrieval, and more!

DIVEMASTER INSTRUCTOR
After obtaining the Divemaster Instructor qualification, in addition to the duties that can be performed by an active status AOWI, an active status Divemaster Instructor can.
- Conduct Divemaster cross-certification courses for candidates from other accredited training organizations.
- Register for the Assistant Coach Trainer Program.
Prerequisites
- After obtaining Advanced Open Water Instructor (AOWI) or equivalent from a recognized training institution.
- Obtain a Diving Science Instructor or equivalent from a recognized training organization.
- At least 30 certifications have been awarded, including 15 Scuba Diver/Open Water Diver.

ASSISTANT INSTRUCTOR TRAINER
Prerequisites (Automatic Promotion)
- Minimum age: 18 years old
- Divemaster Instructor level or equivalent rating from another recognized organization is required.
- At least 45 certifications have been awarded, including 30 Scuba Diver/Open Water Diver certificates
In addition to the courses that may be taught by a Specialty Instructor in an active status, a Diving Supervisor Instructor/Assistant Instructor Trainer in an active status may teach, supervise, and certify Diving Supervisors/Assistant Instructors, and assist Instructor Trainers in the execution of all SSI Instructor level courses.

PREREQUISITES
- Assistant Instructor Trainer with Active Status Required
- Minimum of 250 dives
- Training in all major SSI courses for all dive specialty levels
- These certification requirements apply to certifications from other accredited organizations as well.
At least 150 certificates issued to the following levels: 75 Scuba/Open Water Diver 50 Specialty/Advanced Adventure Diver 15 Diver Stress & Rescue 5 Dive Guides 5 Assistant Instructors Can apply to attend the Instructor Trainer Seminar

INSTRUCTOR TRAINER
PREREQUISITES
- At least 21 years of age with an SSI Master Scuba Instructor rating or equivalent rating from another recognized organization Provide proof of having assisted an Instructor Trainer in an active capacity with at least one ITC and one Instructor Cross Certification course.
By attending and passing the Coach Trainer Seminar, in addition to the courses that Assistant Coach Trainers can teach, Coach Trainers in an active capacity can.
- Execute Instructor training programs.
- For candidates from other ISO certified training organizations / RSTC members, conduct the Diving Professional Exam cross-certification course.
- Assist the Coach Certification Officer in administering all SSI Coach Evaluation Programs.
